Product information about our interior pipes
About our pipes and fittings:
Our pipes and pipe fittings are made for interior design. You can assemble parts yourself to create furniture such as wine holders, candlesticks, shelf brackets, and much more—only your imagination sets the limit. If you like the industrial interior style or steampunk, our home decor will suit you and your style perfectly. Tired of what you have? Add to it and rebuild into something else.
Our coated products are very resistant to external conditions and look the same for many years. The surface treatment is a good protection against rust and corrosion and keeps your products looking good year after year.
Powder-coated pipes or natural?
Pipe fittings sold in natural or natural color are metal-clean upon delivery. If exposed to moisture and dampness, some corrosion will occur. Some like the "worn" style that comes with some rust, but if you want to be sure to keep the surface looking the same year after year, we recommend treating them in some way; clear spray lacquer is sufficient.
Assemble interior pipe fittings:
Assembly of parts is easy by hand, but in some cases, you can use hand tools such as pliers/pipe wrench and adjustable wrench. If you want to be sure that the parts will not unscrew over time, you can apply a small amount of thread locker on the threads during assembly; just keep in mind that it can be very difficult to take them apart again afterward. If you plan to assemble the parts with thread sealant, we recommend that you first "test assemble" and make sure everything looks right before disassembling and applying the thread sealant.
Sometimes you have to "lock the position" without tightening all the way. This is typical when, for example, building lamp stands from pipes. This can sometimes be a bit tricky and require more patience and fiddling. A good way to do this is to use epoxy glue which both holds very tightly when dried and also fills any gaps so the pipes don't wobble even if they are not screwed in all the way. Then you can use a "clamp" to hold the pipes in place while the epoxy dries.
The quality of our interior pipes:
All our products are industrial quality but we sell them as interior items; our products are therefore not approved as, for example, water pipes in construction. They withstand a lot of weight and are made to last many years, and thanks to their solid construction, they can also handle a considerable load.
Marks and "dings" on our products:
There can be some marks both during manufacturing, shipping, and handling of these products. Any marks are not remedied as we consider them part of the "rustic", steampunk style. However, if you are dissatisfied with your product, you can always order a new one; we do not cover the return shipping for your flawless but slightly worn part.
Size doesn't matter?
Size doesn't matter, it is sometimes said, but when it comes to our products, it definitely matters.
What sizes of pipes are there?
We sell our pipes and pipe fittings in several different sizes. The size can have practical significance as different sizes fit better with different types of interiors. First, we go through the sizes we have while comparing them with a toilet paper / kitchen paper roll and an aluminum can.
The pipes are sold by some other retailers in inch size (") and then it is often the inner diameter of the pipe that is referred to; we choose to specify them in millimeters and we talk about outer diameter.
20 mm, also called 1/2". The narrowest variant we have in our system. This means that the actual outer diameter of the pipe is 20 mm; if you include the pipe fittings, they are of course larger since they are threaded on the inside and require some material to thread into, for example. If you compare it with a standard telescopic curtain rod, that is, where there are two parts that can be pulled apart / pushed together, the thicker part of the curtain rod has a diameter of about 19 mm.
26 mm, also called 3/4". This is our in-between model in our standard segment. The outer diameter of these pipes is thus 26 mm, and the fittings are somewhat thicker.
32 mm, also called 1". This is the thickest variant we have in our range except for some specific parts where we may have thicker parts. For comparison, the inner tube in a roll of paper towels/toilet paper is about 39-40 mm.
40 mm, also called 1 1/4". In this size, we only have specific products and adapters used for special builds. Read more about this below.
What size do you recommend for my DIY build?
It's hard to always recommend a certain size for every occasion, and often you can change size to get a different style, but here are some tips and advice.
Our 20 mm interior pipes:
Our narrowest pipes, 20 mm (also called 1/2"), are mostly used for smaller interiors and things you want to look a bit neater and tidier. These are the absolutely most common pipes used in the home. They fit perfectly for pipe figures that you can build as lamps, wine racks, paper holders, and rails to hang everything from kitchen utensils to towels on. With these pipes, you can build most things, and they are sturdy enough to build most things with.
26 mm pipes for interior design:
Our "in-between" series, 26 mm (also called 3/4"), is perfect for, for example, candlesticks since the candle holders fit well in these. Also for pipe lamp builds, whether they are to stand in the window or if you want to build a ceiling lamp, these work very well. If you want to build slightly sturdier coat racks or clothes stands, these interior pipes are perfect! You can also build holders for paper if you like the slightly rougher style. These also work very well for towel racks for the larger bath towels, etc. If you need to build your own shelf bracket in an industrial style for the smaller shelves, these become really nice.
32 mm pipes for the industrial home:
Our thickest standard pipes are 32 mm (also called 1"), perfect for the slightly larger and more durable builds. Maybe you like the rustic, industrial decor and want to build a stair railing. If you're building a bookshelf and want to incorporate industrial pipes, these are perfect, as well as footrests for the bar—only your imagination sets the limits. These black powder-coated pipes are also excellent as shelf brackets for larger shelves if you build, for example, a TV/stereo bench or similar.
40 mm pipe fittings:
Our 40 mm pipe fittings are more suited for special purposes. Our short pipes fit the neck of a wine bottle well, as do our T-joints in this size, which can be connected with our narrower pipes for the rest of the build. If you're building a lamp, our adapters here, together with an adapter to 1" pipes, are perfect for attaching a lamp socket or holder for an E27 bulb.
As you can see above, different pipes are often used for different things, but this is just a simple guide; it's your taste, imagination, and style that set the limits on what you can use the pipes for.
